Carrot Island Wild Horses
Where Sea Meets the Sky
On the edge of North Carolina’s coast, the Carrot Island wild horses live between tide and wind; a world shaped by salt, sunlight, and the soft rhythm of the sea. Photographing them feels different from the western herds. The air carries the sound of water, and every movement seems touched by reflection. Here, I’m drawn to quiet gestures; the way they lean into one another, the moments of calm as waves move around their legs.
Life on the island, though serene in appearance, is far from easy. These horses navigate shifting tides, salt winds, and scarce resources, surviving where land and sea constantly meet. They carry the same wildness as the desert herds, yet softened by the tide’s embrace.
This collection is an homage to their gentler wild, to the endurance it takes to live by the sea, and to the still beauty found in the in-between.

ABOUT The ART PRINTS
Along the coast of North Carolina, the Carrot Island wild horses live between wind and tide — a softer wild shaped by salt air and reflection. Their movements mirror the rhythm of the sea, quiet yet enduring. These wild horse photography prints honor the gentle strength of the herd and the coastal wildness where sea meets sky.
Each fine art print reflects the untamed spirit of the horse and the quiet beauty of the land, captured in raw and luminous detail. Every photograph is professionally printed on matte archival paper for exceptional tonal depth, then mounted on durable styrene for lasting stability and a perfectly flat, ready-to-frame finish. Prints up to 24x36 inches arrive mounted; 30x45 prints are unmounted for flexible display and custom framing.
